EDUCATION

We’re proud to have founded the Tabletop Programming at the Millvale Community Library, an intergenerational RPG night for the neighborhood we live and work in. It’s been an absolute joy, and I’d be more than happy to bring what I’ve learned to other organizations and locales! I also frequently guest lectures on games-as-literature and hybrid-genre creative writing for universities, including Carnegie Mellon University and The New School. Whether you’re looking to play, design, or just learn about roleplaying games, don’t hesitate to reach out about creating a program or event!

Writing

Beyond the occasional haunted theatre, RPG worldbuilding often overlooks the importance of the arts. Art, music, and literature all have a huge impact on our society, and it’s amazing how something as small as what trends are going in or out of style can make a setting feel much more alive. Throughout my literary career I’ve worked with everyone from emerging playwrights to Pulitzer Prize-winners, and I love incorporating that real-life experience into my freelance RPG work. I’ve contributed arts districts for games like Hard Wired Island and my speculative fiction has appeared in Collected Voices in the Expanded Field (11:11 Press), Always Crashing, and Adventure Hooks (Cool Skull Press), among others. I'd love to help build your next world with you—contact me to pitch a collaboration!

Editing

When you’re editing RPGs, being able to point out missing commas isn’t enough—you need to be able to identify errors and oversights in a game’s rules as well. I’ve been editing games for indie designers and kickstarters for years, offering everything from basic copyediting to in-line notes throughout a manuscript draft, including 'big picture' feedback like form, structure, and voice. If you want an editor who is also an experienced playtester, I’m your guy.

Publishing

With the rise of affordable print-on-demand and short-run publishing options, almost anyone can publish a book by themself—but that doesn’t mean you should. Vendors will take your money and mail you books in return, sure, but they won’t teach you how to account for spine-creep, advise you on your margins, or do a dozen other things to make sure your book is actually readable. As a book designer and publications expert who’s brought dozens of books to print, I offer affordable page design, cover design, and publication shepherding rates. No matter the state, I can guide any project from first draft all the way to print.
